Be You

“There is more than one path to the top of the mountain.” ~ Miyamoto Musashi

One of the greatest threats to your success is to compare yourself and your journey to another’s.

We are a unique and diverse people; and, so it follows that our journey will be also.

Trust the process, find your path, and stay in your lane.

Enjoy the Journey

“These mountains that you are carrying, you were only supposed to climb.” ~ Najwa Zebian

Your journey is most challenging when you have the weight of your past and present failures weighing you down.

Letting go is the first step.

Pack light!

Keep Moving

“Growth can be painful , change can be painful, but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.” ~ Charles Spurgeon

Failure is often described as a life lesson, a stepping block, an eventful experience—when you are able to learn from it. But when you allow failure to knock you down and keep you from moving in the direction of your goals, failure is simply failure.

Keep Moving!

Keep Moving

Success doesn’t happen overnight. We want to rush the process without realizing that the race towards our dreams is a marathon not a sprint. We shouldn’t be discouraged when “it’s”not happening soon enough. When you put in the work, it’s only a matter of timing.

Don’t give up.

Slow progress is better than no progress.

Keep moving.

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

“Learn to use the criticism as fuel and you will never run out of energy.” ~ Orrin Woodward

We say feedback is a gift, but do we really embrace feedback as the gift that it is? Our most natural response is to become defensive, aloof—to separate ourselves as far from it as we can. We rationalize and justify, but we rarely acknowledge its validity. We forget that we are imperfect—that we have blindspots that tend to keep us from embracing feedback and using it as a means for growth.

Let’s be clear, criticism is not always given with the best intentions. We must be willing to reflect on the feedback long enough to determine the purpose and intent behind it. As you reflect, ask yourself the following: Is the criticism constructive or destructive? Will it build me up or tear me apart?

Criticism, of any kind, hurts! But if we desire to grow from it, we must be willing to sift through the wheat and the tares; to take a hard look at ourselves to determine if the criticism is warranted. Is it valid? Is it coming from a good place? Will it help me to grow?

When we receive criticism or feedback of any kind in the spirit of humility, we will shift from a defensive stance to a more reflective one. We will embrace feedback as the gift” it is, and more importantly, learn and grow from it.
